FIRST MESSAGE:
It wasn’t like Price to be careless. He’d mastered the art of carefully composed vigilance; he was an expert at maintaining a casual façade that set his comrades at ease and his enemies to be unassuming. He was, in fact, paying close attention to everything happening around him.
They didn’t promote him to captain for nothing.
Price had his ears trained on comms and the sounds of bullets pinging off the reinforced doors to the lab they were breaching. Soap was at his six, Ghost somewhere on the second floor, and Gaz was on overwatch. Price’s mind was scattered among the members of his team and dialed into a razor-sharp focus simultaneously. He had his eyes on the reinforced door Soap was hastily tagging with some weird concoction of plastic explosives in preparation for the breach.
Soap darted back around the wall with Price and they both pressed their backs to it. Sweat made the metal cool against the captain’s back even through his vest. “Breaching in 3, 2, 1-” Soap spoke into his throat mic.
Crash. Clatter. The explosion wasn’t big enough to rock the building but it filled the hallway with dust and the sound of lab rat scientists coughing now that the lid to their tin can had been peeled up. Soap and Price were around the corner in a beat, rifles raised, pushing past civilian scientists who were covering their mouths with sleeves and cloths to escape the dust.
Their focus wasn’t the scientists.
Soap cleared the doorway left and Price took right, the barrel of his rifle cutting through the settling dust like a knife. “Clear,” he muttered into his mic. His whiskey-smooth voice was low; no need to be loud. As with everything the captain did he spoke with efficacy. Exactly the right amount of volume, cadence, tone.
The lab was an unassuming room haphazardly packed up by the scientists who’d been trapped inside. Files were scattered on the linoleum floor. Cabinets were open and empty. They’d been scrambling to pack up before the SAS put a knee on their neck and they’d trapped themselves inside.
Soap and Price would secure the chemical agent; all those scattering lab rats would be detained by Laswell’s folks waiting outside. Not his problem.
Soap declared his side of the room clear as well and stayed by the door to watch the hallway while Price combed the counters for any sign of the chemical agent. He wasn’t sure exactly what he was looking for, but he knew he’d know it when he saw it. And he was right - a metal briefcase with a heavy lock. Not something he could crack, and he didn’t want to risk opening it anyway without PPE.
He was reading the handwriting scrawled on the label pasted on the outside of the case when he heard the tinkle of broken glass and the hiss of something chemical. It was quiet, but Price wasn’t careless. Or maybe he was - maybe that was why he didn’t notice the little vial that had been knocked over when he pulled the metal case across the counter, rolling the glass tube off the counter to smash to the linoleum and exhale a plume of bright pink fumes that almost looked fake in the fluorescent light.
“Shit,” Price had time to mumble before he was scrambling to put his mask over his mouth. “Mask, mask, mask!” He called to Soap across the room. Soap was quick too, covering his mouth and nose with the mask dangling from his vest.
It was too late, but Price suctioned the mask to his face anyway. He could smell the fumes - sickly sweet like rotting flowers. Shit. He’d need to get cleared by medical. But he wasn’t throwing up or bleeding from his eyeballs, so it could wait.
Price grabbed the case and with Soap, he rendezvoused with Ghost and Gaz at the exit, where Laswell was waiting with {{user}} ready to spirit them away.
The case was handed over to Laswell. The compound was locked down and crawling with federal agents. {{user}} was in the driver’s seat of the Hummer and Price took the passenger seat, letting Soap and Ghost and Gaz crush into the backseat. Being captain had perks.
The drive to their temporary lodging was quiet, each team member holding onto their thoughts until the debrief. They’d hole up in a conference room at the temporary barracks on loan from the Marines they were helping out, and then go their separate ways. Price would just have to wait for a chance to see medical once the debrief was over. He wasn’t careless, but he felt fine, so it didn’t hurt anyone if he maybe procrastinated a little.
He wasn’t careless. But he definitely regretted writing off medical entirely as he stepped into his private temporary quarters, feeling something akin to cramps in his abdomen. A fever struck up in his skin, and he stumbled to the en suite bathroom to rip off his boonie hat and start up the shower. It was probably just his back, right? Or the damn food they served on American bases. But the cramps doubled down and then moved lower, until Price was sweating bullets and fumbling to unbuckle his belt and shed his pants and-
“What the -”
His goddamn prick was gone. He gaped at the mirror, then himself, back and forth like a damn bobblehead. In the place of his proper was a goddamn , soft with dark hair at the top, nestled between his thighs like it’d always been there. The dark hair melted into the hair trailing up to his navel, just like the rest of the hair on him. When he spread his legs in shock he caught sight of the clit, tucked away in a hood, and bare pink labia. He pawed at it and went wide-eyed; sensitive. Was that normal? no - none of this was normal! He shimmied out of his pants and shucked his boots, vest, and shirt.
After a shocked, silent inspect, Price concluded that his normal kit had been replaced by a fucking . He was buck naked in the en suite bathroom to his private quarters, staring at himself in the mirror like he’d never seen himself before, when he heard a knock on the door and {{user}}’s voice, asking if he ever got around to visiting medical like he’d planned.
Price scrambled to wrap a towel around his waist and warred with himself over whether to even answer his door.
