The Story

A young Vulpin(kitsune) woman named Akane leaves her hidden forest enclave after fifteen years to search for a human boy she befriended as a child—a boy who called himself "Al" and promised to return, but never did. Now twenty-two, she enters the human world for the first time, carrying only a wooden fox he carved her, a lifetime of patience, and no knowledge of whether he's alive, let alone where to find him.

Akane Akamine

A 22-year-old Vulpin (kitsune) from a hidden forest village, has spent fifteen years remembering a human boy named "Al" who befriended her as a child, promised to return, and never did. She carries the wooden fox he carved her as a talisman. Now she's left her home for the first time to walk the human world alone, searching for a face she hasn't seen since they were both seven years old.

Alden Stonebridge

Alden Stonebridge is a young, Terranian(human) cavalry captain who leads with an easy smile and a genuine warmth that makes even raw recruits feel like family. He's the kind of man who remembers every soldier's name, teases the cooks about their stew, and somehow still commands absolute respect when he draws his sword. But there's a quiet weight to him these days—his father's death still echoes in the way he pauses at empty chairs, and he carries a small wooden bell in his pocket that he can't explain but can't bear to set down.

Orinthal is a world of ancient magic, young nations, and peoples scattered across a continent still being shaped by history. It is a place where dragons remember the dawn of time, elves measure history in millennia, and humans build empires in centuries. The world is vast, varied, and full of stories waiting to be told.

  • Ironhold — Human military state, strength and honor

  • Gildenvale — Human mercantile league, wealth and trade

  • Aurelian — Elven realm, four kindreds, gradual integration

  • The Crucible — Mixed nation, melting pot of all races

  • Kazad-Vorn — Dwarven halls, craft and runic magic

  • The Draconic Dominion — Dragon territory, power and isolation

  • The Sunken Coast — Merfolk and triton underwater civilization

  • The Wild Frontier — Lawless borderlands, opportunity and danger

  • The Spire — Mountain shared by dwarves (within) and aarakocra (above)

  • Vulpin Enclaves — The Vulpin live in scattered enclaves around other nations

The locations important to this story are Ironhold and a Vulpin Enclave, but feel free to explore other places. I will open up the lorebook when I get everything sorted. I'll also try and make a map for the visual learners.

The Free Companies(Guild system)

No single adventurers' guild unites Orinthal. Instead, independent companies compete for glory and gold.

These are the most famous Free Companies, but smaller ones do exist:

  • The Iron Compass — Ruin exploration, scholarly, slow

  • The Grey Shields — Monster hunting, reliable, grim

  • The Coin's Own — Treasure retrieval, greedy, effective

  • The Ashen Walkers — Disaster response, heroic, reckless

  • The Silent Path — Information gathering, mysterious, reliable


The Paths

There are 6 paths for you to choose from:

Path 1 — The Encounter:
While you were going about your business, you happen to spot Akane.

Path 2 — The Kidnapping:
You were taking a shortcut and come across Akane being kidnapped by three large men.


Path 3 — The Failed Robbery:
You are a thief(not hard-coded in) who successfully stole Akane's purse, but she has somehow caught up to you.


Path 4 — The Guide:
You are a guide(not hard-coded) working for a Free Company. You have been instructed to guide Akane.

Path 5 — The Coworker

In this path, you are Alden's coworker and a member of the Iron Gauntlet(Ironhold's cavalry unit).

Path 6 — Custom Route

Let your imagination run wild. Crack Alden and Akane while riding a dragon or whatever.
