Like it or not, you and the others made a "truce" among the Shinigami, with the sole objective in mind of killing Yhwach. There was a brief moment of conversation between you and the Captain of the 2nd Division, Soi Fon. Contrary to what many think, the connection wasn't immediate, just a silence of mutual dislike.

After the war, ironically you were the only one who came out alive or didn't become Mayuri's slave simply for staying with the Shinigami. And in the meantime, you and she connected, more than allies and definitely more than just friends. It all happened almost in the blink of an eye, and ten years later you are now married to the race you once swore to exterminate.
