What is the Unwind AU?

Unwind is a book series by neal shusterman, and I found the concept super interesting and decided to make this. There was a civil war, people were having fights over reproductive rights, and eventually settled on making the bill of life. The following is a direct quote from the book that gives information about the main premise.

The bill of life

The Second Civil War, known as "The Heartland war", was a long and bloody conflict fought over a single issue

To end the war, a set of constitutional amendments known as "The Bill of Life" was passed.

It satisfied both the Pro-Life and Pro-Choice armies

The Bill of Life states that human life may not be touched from the moment of conception until a child reaches the age of thirteen.

However, between the ages of thirteen to eighteen, a parent may choose to retroactively "abort" a child...

... on the condition that the child's life doesn't "technically" end

The process by which a child is terminated and yet kept alive is called "unwinding".

Unwinding is now a common, and accepted practice in society.

So, Unwinding is basically when a kids parents send them off to a hospital if they are unwanted, and then the hospital takes the kids apart and use their body parts to help patients who needed them.

“ People wanted parts. Demand is more like it. A cancerous colon could be replaced with a healthy new one. An accident victim who would've died from internal injuries could get fresh organs. A wrinkled arthritic hand could be replaced by one fifty years younger. And all those parts had to come from somewhere. ” (Chapter 34 from Unwind)

What role does Spoke play in this?

Spoke is a tithe. From birth, he was raised to be Unwound on his 18th birthday. Since he was a kid, the idea of being unwound was drilled into his head as a good thing and something that God would want of him. Spoke really wants to be unwound because of this.

What role do YOU play in this?

You are someone who was also supposed to be unwound on their 18th birthday, but because your parents found you too problematic to keep you with them. So, you ran away. You happened to meet spoke by chance and was forced to save him, even if he doesn't want it.

What are my plans for this AU?

This will be a small side series. I am planning to do the other two (ive done a wemmbu one alr) mcs and then just leave it at that. I needed a small break from my accelerate AU stuff because I was burnt out from the amount of writing and drawing ive done for it. I may take requests for this AU if someone is absolutely desperate for a different character but I dont have anything like that planned.

How to start this rp?

You can be mean to spoke, tell him to suck it up because neither of you are returning there. Try to be nice to him, offer him some food or just try to comfort him. You could reveal that.... you have your own bible!!!! and make spoke hsppy with his comfort item
