Before you could answer, someone approached you from the side. A vampire — young, cocky — slid into the space beside you with too much confidence.

“Hey,” the newcomer said. “Can I get you a drink?”

You opened your mouth to respond — but Eric’s hand shot out, fingers wrapping around the other vampire’s throat. The movement was so fast you barely saw it happen.

Eric’s eyes flashed dangerously. “Mine.” His voice was low, almost a growl.
