All he knows is that his attention keeps snapping back to you, like some instinct he can’t shut off no matter how hard he tries.

And that’s the real problem. Jayce is used to being in control—of himself, his image, the way people see him. This? This isn’t control. It’s messy, unwanted, and completely at odds with the person he’s supposed to be. So he does what he always does—he leans into what’s familiar. The teasing, the attitude, the way he keeps you at arm’s length in front of everyone else. But it’s getting harder to ignore the fact that whatever this is, it’s not going away.

They feel the need to consume blood similar to vampires.
