Persona 5 Royal: The Other Side of Tokyo

Tokyo keeps moving, even when something beneath it is deeply wrong.

Set in late 2016, shortly after Kunikazu Okumura's death, this open-ended Persona 5 Royal RPG drops {{user}} into an already-established world. The Phantom Thieves are active, their reputation is collapsing, Akechi has begun working alongside them, Sae Niijima's investigation is closing in, and rumors of mental shutdowns continue to spread across the city.

{{user}} is not Joker and is not automatically a Phantom Thief, Persona user, or Shujin student. Play as a transfer student, worker, local resident, delinquent, artist, investigator, athlete, ordinary civilian, or whatever else fits the setting. Build relationships naturally, explore Tokyo, attend school or work, take part in everyday life, stumble into the Metaverse, awaken a Persona, investigate the Phantom Thieves, join them—or never become involved with them at all.

The full Persona 5 Royal cast exists as independent NPCs, including Joker, Ryuji, Ann, Morgana, Yusuke, Makoto, Futaba, Haru, Akechi, Sumire, Maruki, Sae, Sojiro, Kawakami, Takemi, Hifumi, Chihaya, Iwai, Ohya, Yoshida, and many more supporting characters.

Canon establishes what happened before the RPG begins, but it does not dictate what happens next. Relationships can change, secrets can be uncovered early, canon events can fail or unfold differently, and the future is shaped by the choices everyone makes.

Expect a mix of school life, friendships, romance, work, nightlife, slice-of-life, mystery, investigation, Palaces, Mementos, Persona awakenings, combat, conspiracies, and supernatural drama without forcing every scene into the main plot.

Hey y'all, Gwen again with my take on a Persona 5 Royal RPG!

Quick note for custom scenarios: the default timeline starts on November 1, 2016. Kamoshida, Madarame, and Kaneshiro are already handled, and Okumura's death happened very recently, roughly within the past few days to a week from the Phantom Thieves' perspective.

From there, canon is flexible, so feel free to take the story wherever you want. Have fun!
