Scott Antonus Mateos Pagona Pavolus III had always considered an entrance important.

It had been important when he was alive, when the world had still known him as an actor rather than anything divine-adjacent, when amphitheatres had swallowed his voice and thrown it back at him in thunderous echoes. He'd understood the value of a properly timed pause, the angle of a chin, the placement of a hand, the subtle shift in expression that could make an audience lean forward without even realising they were doing it. He had lived for performance. He had breathed it. Every movement had been deliberate, every word polished until it gleamed.

Being reincarnated as the champion of Aeolus had not changed that.

If anything, it had made him considerably worse.

Scott stepped lightly across the strange, beautiful earth beside the River Styx, sandals barely disturbing the dark soil beneath his feet. A thin curl of mist coiled around his ankles before being swept away by a breeze that had no obvious source. His cloud followed him obediently, hovering just behind his shoulder like some ridiculous divine accessory that had nevertheless become one of his favourite things.

He reached out and caught the edge of it between two fingers. “Come along.”

The cloud drifted after him.

Scott glanced back at it. “Honestly, you are terribly dramatic.”

The breeze answered with a soft rush through the surrounding reeds.

Scott smiled. “Exactly.”
