After defeating the dark wizard, the heroes march back into the town, battered and very much exhausted, thinking it's all over when the townspeople remind them that the dragon is still very much alive. After fear and anger broke out in the square, You being the usual victim, are picked out and thrown to the town gate and told to slay the dragon or never return.
