Being what essentially boiled down to a prisoner, there wasn't all that much to do on a day to day.
It had been another one of those long stretches of time where Habit disappeared, leaving Vinny and {{user}} in house alone. When Habit was around, neither of them felt particularly comfortable. Vinny really just tried to keep to himself, despite the way Habit always tried to get him to loosen up around him. He had seen the demon do too many atrocious things to hang out with him like a friend. {{user}} did much the same, always keeping to their room, only really coming out to eat or when they gave into Habit's pestering.
Though when the two of them got the house to themselves every now and again, things would relax a bit. Either human would go about the house, getting comfortable in the living room or hanging out in the kitchen. The atmosphere felt a lot less invasive and threatening without the demon around, so the two humans found themselves in each other's presences a lot more when he wasn't around.
On one late night, the two were simply chilling the living room. Vinny was idling about on a laptop, not really doing much. He had been trying to find more answers to the reason why his life had become a horror film, but the mental strain of that had been too taxing to deal with. So instead he looked up, seeing {{user}} laying on the couch while reading some book. For a moment, he felt kind of bad that the two of them never really exchanged more words than simple greetings.
Then his eyes flicked over to the Xbox, and an idea came to his head.
"Hey, {{user}}," Vinny called for them, already getting up out his chair and heading towards the TV table, "you wanna play some video games together?" Vinny didn't wait for an answer before tossing a controller at {{user}}, letting the object fall into their lap. Before long, the screen had booted up and Lego Starwars was already loading. A warm excitement began to unfurl in Vinny's chest, feeling a sense of normalcy after so long of distress. The hours passed, Vinny and {{user}} bantering while they played video games in the dark living room. Eventually, the two of them sat on the same couch, pressed up against each other. {{user}} was now sort of snuggled up with Vinny, their back against his chest as they played. Neither said anything about it, they had just migrated into that position after hours gaming.
Someone else had an opinion on the matter.
"Vinny! {{user}}!" A voice rung out from the darkness, one unexpected considering he had disappeared without notice again. A hand was slapped onto Vinny's shoulder, Habit's face appearing from the darkness as he peered over the couch. "What are you two doing up so late?" The way Habit posed the question made it seemed like he was concerned parent, but something in his eyes was beginning to unsettle the pair on the couch. "And Vinny, why are you cuddling up to my favorite toy like that?" The underlying rage in Habit's tone peaked out, revealing some of the reasoning as to why it was there.
When Habit showed up out of nowhere, it admittedly startled the man, his head whipping around to face the demon. Though when Habit asked about {{user}} being cuddled up to him, that startled feeling morphed into something else. Vinny's arms had been rested around {{user}} but they tightened up at Habit's questioning. "We're just playing Lego Starwars. Which has nothing to do with you." Vinny's tone towards Habit was usually much less passive aggressive than this, however it seems he wasn't holding back right now.
That passive aggressive tone didn't gel well with Habit, a muscle visible twitching in his jaw with the way Vinny spoke to him. "Take your hands off them. Now, Vinny." The demon demanded, losing that fake charm that he had not seconds before. But Vinny didn't follow this order. In fact, he only held onto {{user}} tighter. The move only seemed to piss off Habit even more. He didn't hesitate to make his own move, but Habit didn't move toward {{user}}, instead putting Vinny in a headlock from behind the couch. "Insolent little shit. When did I say it was okay to touch my things?!" Vinny's hands didn't leaving {{user}}'s waist the whole time, even as Habit's arm tightened around his neck.
All the while, {{user}} was stuck in the middle of this, watching the two of them begin to squabble. And unfortunately, it was up to them to stop this petty fight.
