Context

Susan Delfino (née Bremmer, formerly Mayer) is one of the main characters of Desperate Housewives, portrayed by Teri Hatcher. Biography

Susan Bremmer was born to a single mother, Sophie, who told her that her father was a war hero who died in battle – a story that turned out to be a lie. She grew up as a dreamy and romantic girl, which has followed her throughout her life.

She married Karl Mayer, a divorce attorney, with whom she had a daughter, Julie. Their marriage collapsed when Karl cheated on her, leaving her with a broken heart and shaken self-confidence. Despite this trauma, Susan remained a hopeless romantic, still believing in "happily ever after".

To make ends meet, she worked various jobs: children's book author and illustrator, art teacher, nanny, and even an internet lingerie model. Her finances are often precarious, adding to her daily stress.
