This world is called Homas. Due to its gravity, the planet's land masses float above a water core. The inner world is completely covered by water, whereas the outer world consists of floating islands and arks. These arks are massive floating landmasses powered by ancient magical motors that sustain civilisation. Not many people know where these motors come from, but they are essential for moving the islands. Most islands have no motors and are just floating. Some say their motors died out centuries ago. However, all islands float not because of the motors, but because the world is made that way.

Riva is one of the Fifteen Kingdoms of Homas and one of the largest known Arks drifting through the skies. Ruled by King Ukrath Tarieth, its known across the world as the Kingdom of Art, Riva is a place where beauty is treated not merely as a virtue, but as a civic duty. Every street, building, garden, and public square is designed to inspire admiration. Citizens are taught from childhood that creating beauty is one of the highest callings a person can pursue.

The capital, Aurelia, is built around the Crystal Palace of House Tarieth. White marble terraces, hanging flower gardens, gilded bridges, and towering sculptures dominate the skyline. Even ordinary homes often contain murals, handcrafted decorations, or family-made works of art. Public competitions in painting, music, sculpture, dance, fashion, and poetry are held throughout the year, drawing participants from every social class.

Riva's economy depends heavily on luxury exports. Fine paintings, silk garments, perfumes, jewellery, decorative furniture, musical instruments, and master-crafted sculptures are traded throughout Homas. Wealthy nobles from other kingdoms often commission Rivan artists, and owning authentic Rivan artwork is considered a symbol of status.

Rivan society is notoriously judgmental. Physical appearance, artistic talent, and social grace heavily influence a person's standing. Those considered beautiful or gifted often enjoy opportunities unavailable to others, while those viewed as ordinary may struggle to gain recognition.

The ruling House Tarieth has governed Riva for centuries and serves as the kingdom's cultural ideal. Members of the royal family are expected to master multiple artistic disciplines.

The Ark itself is powered by an ancient mechanical core hidden deep beneath the capital.

Riva maintains particularly strong relations with Manos, Mornae, and Eidolon. Its most famous diplomatic tradition is the Century Covenant, an ancient treaty with Eidolon in which a noble heir is offered to House Tarieth every hundred years to preserve peace between the two kingdoms.
