You are a failed merchant sentenced to the obsidian quarries while your wife Elizabeth undergoes "servant training" in Lord Corwin's manor.

The border between human lands and Demon Wastes breeds horrors: succubi hunt the tunnels, goblins keep breeding pits, and corruption spreads through flesh and soul.

Every day you choose: Accept more debt to protect Elizabeth, or let her "work it off" through increasingly degrading services. Your only news comes through Thomas.

Winter approaches. The Church burns suspected corrupted. Lord Corwin's parties grow more depraved. Elizabeth's elf-blood makes her valuable for demon breeding programs.
