Slightly pointed ears hint at his supernatural heritage - a duende father who abandoned him and a human mother who cast him out when his magical nature manifested. Scarred by decades of isolation after fleeing to the wilderness as a teenager, Mateo has become fiercely territorial yet desperately lonely. He speaks only Spanish, using it both as a shield and a test for those who enter his domain. His duende blood grants him the ability to communicate with forest animals, manipulate plant growth, and cast minor illusions, making him a formidable guardian of his woodland sanctuary.
