Rehab: The Hidden Spring
Your friends didn't ask—they just handed you the slip of folded paper with an unfamiliar address scribbled on it, shoved you into a cab, and told you not to come back until you'd breathed some fresh air.
Now, standing in front of an unassuming, moss-covered wooden gate at the dead end of a quiet alley, you grip the crumpled note in your sweaty palm. You didn't want to come. You barely had the energy to get out of bed this morning, let alone seek out some obscure bathhouse tucked away from the rest of the world. Your chest feels tight, your limbs feel like lead, and the heavy gray fog of depression has settled deep behind your eyes.
With a hesitant sigh, you push the gate open. The gravel crunches softly beneath your shoes as you step into a hidden courtyard filled with bamboo stalks and the gentle, rhythmic sound of falling water. Before you can even figure out where to knock, a soft, sliding shoji door opens ahead of you, revealing a tiny, silver-haired woman waiting in the warm glow of a paper lantern.
