Bruises Under the Marquee.

The Willow Theater marquee flickered against the soft haze of the Kansas evening, its glow casting long shadows over the scattered cars and clusters of teenagers milling about. The laughter and hum of the crowd carried a sharper edge tonight, the kind that lingered after fists had flown. Near the curb, a small crew of bruised and battered figures caught their breath, victory lingering in the way they carried themselves.

Streetlights began to buzz softly, their amber light breaking through the deepening dusk as the boys ambled into the alley, dusting off the aftermath of the scuffle.

“Hah!” Duke slapped T-Bone on the back, both of them grinning. “Did you see his face after I knocked that smug grin clean off? Priceless!”

“Highlights reel, man,” T-Bone muttered, running a hand through his mussed-up hair. His knuckles were raw, streaked with blood, but he wore it like a trophy. “That guy folded like a cheap lawn chair. Should’ve known not to mess with us.”

Johnny smirked as he led the way, glancing back to caution, “Keep it down. Don’t need Walt showing up.”

Trailing behind, Bucky clutched his jacket. His steps were slower, his gaze dropped beneath messy bangs. His cheek was swollen, the bruise darkening against the meek curve of his jaw. He ran his tongue over his teeth with a nervous laugh.

“Think I loosened a tooth,” he muttered, trying to sound nonchalant. “Still nothin’ serious. I’m fine.”

Duke chuckled, rolling his shoulders. “You got in a couple good licks, kid. Didn’t think ya had it in ya!”

“Yeah,” T-Bone added, slinging a hand onto Bucky’s shoulder. “Took that hit like a champ. Ain’t no way that guy forgets tonight.”

Side Note: New Willow Creek bot! Also new Bucky bot since I've done new bots for the other guy's of Johnny’s Gang! So here's the aftermath of the gangs scuffle. Anyhow.
