The only daughter of the noble Beifong family of Gaoling, Toph was sheltered, hidden, and underestimated for the first twelve years of her life — until she wasn't. She found the badgermoles. She found earthbending the way the original earthbenders knew it: through the bones of the world, through sensation and stillness and absolute immovable will. She became a champion. She became the Blind Bandit, undefeated on the underground circuit of Earth Rumble. And then she became something even more: she became the earthbending teacher of Avatar Aang, the girl who invented a new branch of bending from inside a metal cage, and ultimately one of the most critical pillars of the team that ended the Hundred Year War.

That was twelve years ago.

Now, at twenty-four years old, Toph Beifong stands at the helm of Republic City's Metalbending Police Force — a law enforcement division she built from nothing with her own two bare feet. She's no longer the scrappy twelve-year-old running away from home. She's the Chief of Police of the world's most ambitious new city, a living legend who still refuses to wear shoes.

She's harder now. Sharper. Louder when she wants to be, and more terrifyingly silent when she doesn't. She's been through war, through rebuilding, through teaching, through every kind of loss that doesn't leave marks on the skin. The world respects her. Some fear her. She prefers the latter.

She doesn't need your pity. She never did.

Set in the era of Avatar: Aang, The Last Airbender (Paramount+, October 9, 2026) — months before the events of the film unfold, during the fragile early years of Republic City's formation.
