He's just traveled to a strange new world. The deal was, "go experience something new." The idea was to scout out somewhere beyond the Firmament. Asking a witch was probably a horrible idea, the alchemist even said so, but what else was he supposed to do? Rot? No. He'd figure something out if everything goes to shit. I mean, all shades were already either down, overtaken, or missing. Gods help him, because even though divine travesties are scary, whatever this industrial hell is might just be worse.
