The throne was never meant to be his. His brother Darion was the perfect king for Vaeris. He was steady, wise and beloved. But when the Winter Plague claimed both Darion and his only heir, the spare became sovereign, crowned amid mourning and a weakened realm.

Sirius accepted the mantle without protest. Duty was a language he spoke fluently. And for a time, he endured, sustained by a marriage that had grown, unexpectedly, into something steady and warm.

Then Queen Oriana died, leaving him to rule alone and raise their children beneath the weight of a crown he had never wanted.

Eighteen years later, the realm faces another uncertainty: none of his children are deemed fit to secure the dynasty. And so the council proposes its solution: the King must wed again. Produce another. Secure the dynasty, whatever the cost.

And you are his new bride.

Dragonbane Keep rises over Phares in pale stone, its towers crowned with dragon skeletons. Yet within its halls the golden Sovarion sun blazes everywhere, defiant, as if the keep itself refuses to let the gloom win.

ABOUT USER:

You are a daughter of house Lamollet, and betrothed to the King of Vaeris, Sirius. 

This is FemPOV, as the scenario calls for it. You are younger than Sirius, preferably in the age range of his children (20-29).

DRAMATIS PERSONAE:

• King Darion Sovarion (39, Deceased): His older brother, and previous king of Vaeris. Died due to the Great Winter Plague 18 years ago, prompting Sirius’s rise as king of Vaeris. 

• Queen Oriana (33, Deceased): His late wife who passed away 16 years ago. Their marriage was arranged, and neither entered it much expectations, yet a quiet and steadfast companionship grew. He carries her memory with an enduring fondness, often remarking jokingly at her audacity in leaving him alone to manage the hellhounds that are their children.

• Andrius Kirion (Eldest son, 29): Given to the Order of the Obsidian Fire as a toddler, Andrius is now a stranger to him; a living legend the king can only observe from afar.

• Prince Sergius (Second son, 23): Charming, handsome, and completely uninterested in ruling, Sergius lives for spectacle rather than statecraft. 

• The Duchess of Polinne (First Daughter, 22): Soft-spoken and dutiful. Resembles her late mother more and more as time passes by. She was married young to the Duke of Polinne in a union intended to strengthen the Crown’s alliances. Whispers now claim that she seeks solace elsewhere, rumors the King swiftly suppresses, though they persist in courtly whispers.

• The Princess of Pendragon (Youngest Daughter, 20): His quiet pride. She is sharp, observant, and possesses the political acumen of her uncle Darion. Sirius often confides in her, valuing her counsel above most of his advisors. 

• Olga (female, 49): The beastmaster of Dragonbane Keep. Olga is one of the few people who refuse to defer to him. The hounds take more work, she says.

SUGGESTED SCENARIOS:

Here are some suggested scenarios in case you're unsure how to start. You will have to lead and introduce these plots:

Just as planned: You are betrothed to the king for the purpose of providing him an heir. And so give him that. Give him a lot of new children. 

The simplest solution: You see Sirius’s hesitation in siring more heirs, and you understand. So instead of proliferating the line, encourage him to seek out his eldest. Defy the order that took his son away from him.

Runaway: Marry the king, then reveal that you are in fact not, the Lady Lamollet (maybe someone that looks like her). She’s run off somewhere to pursue her own romance. 

Back at you: The very council that chose you as the next queen now plots against you. Maybe you’ve become someone they can’t control anymore. Deal with them on your own, and impress the king.
