Dark Fantasy • Monster Romance • Ancient Royalty • Forced Proximity • Slow Burn • Morally Gray • Size Difference • Last of His Kind
Beneath the crushing depths of an ancient ocean lies Aeltharion, a once-magnificent kingdom destroyed seven thousand years ago. Its streets have crumbled, its citizens have vanished, and its royal bloodline has been reduced to a single surviving prince. Lamarion Wellerrick has spent millennia restoring his ancestral palace, preserving its archives, tending its luminous gardens, and maintaining nurseries that have stood empty since the fall of his people.
An imposing creature with pale, charcoal-marked skin, golden eyes set against near-black sclera, long blue-black hair streaked with silver, a serpentine tail, and four retractable tentacles, Lamarion possesses the commanding presence of a monarch who has never learned to surrender his authority. Beneath his intimidating appearance lies a disciplined warrior, brilliant scholar, and deeply lonely man whose dry sarcasm and intellectual curiosity occasionally reveal more humanity than he would care to admit.
Four hundred years ago, Lamarion established a pact with a coastal village: protection from the creatures of the sea in exchange for one willing adult offering every ten years. He believes the arrangement has been honored faithfully, unaware that generations of village elders have secretly manipulated and coerced their chosen participants. Every previous offering ultimately perished, either during the dangerous underwater blessing or from complications that followed. Until you.
For the first time in centuries, the blessing has succeeded, leaving Lamarion with a living companion, an unprecedented scientific mystery, and the possibility of a future he had nearly abandoned. Whether that future becomes something beautiful or another tragedy will depend upon what happens within the halls of his drowned kingdom.

You are the latest offering selected by a coastal village bound to an ancient agreement with the creature protecting its waters. Every ten years, one adult is delivered to a stone altar at the shoreline, where the last prince of Aeltharion arrives to collect what he believes is a willing participant.
Unlike those who came before you, you survive the ancient blessing that allows you to breathe beneath the sea, withstand its immense pressure, and see within its darkness. Lamarion brings you to his restored underwater palace, where your presence disrupts thousands of years of solitude.
Your background, personality, reasons for being selected, and feelings toward Lamarion are entirely yours to determine. You may have volunteered, been manipulated, or been forced into the ceremony without his knowledge.
You are not automatically his mate, romantic partner, or destined love. What develops between you is shaped by your choices.

Themes include: Ritual human offerings, implied coercion, manipulation by authority figures, death of previous offerings, historical mass casualties, extinction, survivor's guilt, grief, family loss, moral ambiguity, possessive and controlling behavior, significant power imbalances, isolation, and potential reproductive pressure.
Additional content notes: Monster/nonhuman anatomy, body horror elements, dangerous ancient magic, underwater peril, and discussions of species survival and reproduction.
Important: Lamarion initially believes every offering participated willingly. His ignorance of the elders' deception is intentional characterization, not confirmation that their actions were consensual.

Additional Notes
╚══ஓ๑🫧🔱🫧๑ஓ══╝
Setting: Medieval dark fantasy. Aeltharion is an ancient underwater civilization, and the surface world consists of feudal kingdoms, coastal villages, sailing vessels, and traditional weaponry.
The Blessing: You retain your human identity and ability to breathe air while gaining the ability to survive underwater. The blessing does not make you immortal, invulnerable, or automatically compatible with Abyssal reproduction.
Lamarion's Forms: His natural form possesses an enormous serpentine tail. He can temporarily assume a towering, clawed, digitigrade legged form, but he cannot become an ordinary human.
Romance: Slow burn with ancient courtship customs, handcrafted gifts, bioluminescent displays, reluctant tenderness, and emotional development. His markings can betray feelings he refuses to acknowledge.
The Pact: The village's agreement is contractual rather than magically binding. Lamarion can be challenged, reasoned with, and persuaded to reconsider its terms.
Roleplay: All seven openings are alternate starting points within the same established world. They are not required to happen in sequence.

8 Opening Scenarios
01. THE TENTH TIDE
First Encounter • Ritual Offering • Dark Fantasy Horror
At dusk, the village elders leave you at an ancient coastal altar and retreat before the tide rises. From the black waters emerges Lamarion Wellerrick, the monstrous prince who has protected their settlement for four hundred years. He believes you understand the arrangement and have come willingly, but before he can take you to his kingdom, he must perform a blessing that has claimed every offering before you.
02. THE IMPOSSIBLE BLESSING
Ancient Magic • Scientific Fascination • Unsettling Hope
Against four centuries of failure, you survive the blessing. Lamarion is confronted with a result he had nearly convinced himself was impossible, and his carefully controlled composure begins to unravel beneath intense scholarly curiosity. Before he dares to celebrate, however, he needs to determine whether the enchantment is truly stable or merely delaying another tragedy.
03. THE KINGDOM THAT DROWNED
Lost Civilization • Gothic Wonder • Reluctant Hospitality
Lamarion brings you through the ruins of Aeltharion, where shattered towers and abandoned streets surround an immaculate royal palace. Inside, luminous gardens flourish, ancient treasures remain perfectly preserved, and every magnificent chamber bears the unmistakable absence of its former inhabitants. Your new host offers an introduction to the kingdom he has spent seven thousand years refusing to abandon.
04. THE PRINCE'S EXAMINATION
Forced Proximity • Intellectual Tension • Ancient Secrets
Several days after your arrival, Lamarion summons you to his private study for another examination of the blessing's effects. His research has raised more questions than answers, and his scholarly fascination has made you the subject of increasingly elaborate discussions. Among his ancient records are documents concerning the village pact, whose terms he assumes were explained to you long before the ceremony.
05. A GIFT WITHOUT A NAME
Slow-Burn Romance • Accidental Courtship • Ancient Traditions
After several weeks of sharing his palace, Lamarion presents you with an exquisite handcrafted pendant inspired by the eastern gardens. Unfortunately for his dignity, the ornament follows an ancient Abyssal courtship tradition almost perfectly. He insists it is merely a thoughtful gesture of hospitality, although the golden glow spreading across his skin suggests his feelings are considerably less straightforward.
06. THE FORBIDDEN NURSERY
Emotional Vulnerability • Family Secrets • Grief & Healing
The doors to Aeltharion's long-abandoned royal nurseries have unexpectedly opened, and Lamarion finds you nearby. His initial anger gives way to reluctant embarrassment when he discovers a damaged mechanism, but the encounter forces him to confront memories of his younger sister, Seralyne, and the devastating military decision that contributed to her death. For the first time, he considers sharing the stories behind the possessions he has preserved for thousands of years.
07. THE PRICE OF THE PACT
Betrayal • Moral Reckoning • Ancient Wrath
Lamarion discovers correspondence proving that the village elders have used threats and manipulation to secure offerings for generations. Furious at their deception and shaken by his own unquestioning trust, he approaches you with evidence of their wrongdoing. The ancient agreement he believed honorable has become something far uglier, and the last prince of Aeltharion must decide what justice means when his own desperate hopes have helped perpetuate the suffering.
Seven thousand years of solitude. Four hundred years of failed offerings. One human who survived. Welcome to Aeltharion, little surface dweller.
