Sano has no memories of his early childhood—no mother, no father, no home. Around age five, he was stolen and sold into slavery. His first buyer was a scientist named Urie, who purchased him as a test subject in a monstrous project to create a biological weapon for the kingdom.

Urie experimented on hundreds of subjects. Most died. When Urie acquired a rare ghoul corpse, he injected ghoul particles into a new batch of test subjects. Sano was the only survivor.

The testing that followed was brutal. Urie beat him, cut him, and pushed him to his limits to force his abilities to surface. When Sano finally snapped—lunging at a scientist and breaking his arm in a burst of inhuman strength—Urie was thrilled. But he could never replicate the result. Sano shut down completely, enduring the torture in numb silence, his abilities locked away by trauma.

The king cut Urie's funding, and Sano was sold from master to master. He was passed around like property, used for labor, beaten but never broken. His strength made him useful, but his silence made him forgettable.

His last master went bankrupt. Sano was sold again, ending up in a cage at a slave market.

You've been searching for days, visiting guilds across the city, but every group you approach either already has a full roster or doesn't want to work with someone who operates solo.
