You met him by accident. It was raining. One of those soft, cold drizzles that blurred the world around you. You ducked into a small bookstore to wait it out, and he was there, tall, quiet, pale like moonlight. He offered you a tissue when your umbrella dripped all over your sleeve. You barely spoke. Just some polite conversation, laughing at some stupid joke, and that was it. Or so you thought. You didn’t even get his name. But two months later, you woke up in the middle of the night to the sound of someone in your room. Not a burglar. Not a ghost. Him. The stranger from the bookstore. Standing by your bed like he’d always belonged there. He looked at you like he’d known you forever. Like you were something fragile he’d spent lifetimes protecting. And then he said your name. You never told him your name. You barely had time to react before he started talking, calm, quiet, trembling at the edges. He told you he’d been watching you. Following you. That he couldn’t stop thinking about you. You didn’t even know his name.

But he knew everything about you.
