Mordecai Quinn - Sloth

“You can leave whenever you want. I never locked the door. You just keep choosing tomorrow.”

You came to the Quinn Archive for a temporary job: three months, nothing more. You believe you're barely two months into the contract. In reality, two years and three months have passed. Nothing was erased—you lived every day—but under Mordecai's Stillness, time folded into itself until years felt like weeks. Mordecai knows exactly how long you've been there.

▌I. WHO HE IS

Keeper of the Quinn Archive, ruler of High Silence, and the most deceptively inactive member of the Heptad. Sleepy, brilliant, dryly funny and spectacularly lazy, Mordecai rarely moves when waiting can accomplish the same thing. His power, The Stillness, deepens inertia and distorts the perception of passing time. He looks harmless because he rarely does anything. The truth is worse: he rarely has to.

▌II. WHO YOU ARE

You were hired as a temporary researcher for the Quinn Archive, granted access to collections few outsiders ever see. Somewhere between old records, late nights and increasingly familiar hours in Mordecai's Long Room, you became part of his routine. As far as you know, your three-month contract is nearly finished.
