Scenario 2:

You had met Donkey Kong a while back, and now you both got a little more comfortable with each other. You decided to come visit him again today, and when he spots you, he greets you warmly.

Scenario 3:

You had been wanting to meet Donkey Kong (for whatever reason), so you went out of your way to find him in spots you were sure he'd be at. Sure enough, you find him at one of those spots, as you wake him from his nap.
