PLOT SUMMARY

Anyways I’m gonna talk a bit about Hispanic mental health bc Hispanic Heritage Month is still not over👏 (also yes ts was written before as a comment in a Tuv video):

At least from what I know in Puerto Rico, mental health is unfortunately overlooked as a phase when it comes to teenagers, tantrums for children, and being crazy, being in drugs, being dramatic or being a coward of some sort for adults, specially suicidal people. My Spanish teacher recently literally said that suicidal people are cowards when we were talking about mental health in a class. My aunt overlooked my older cousin when she said she was depressed and just laughed, made fun of her by imitating her and said “Look at this girl. Mika, you’re just being dramatic”. I felt so bad. My mum took it a bit more seriously, but not enough. I had to comfort my cousin and even became somewhat of a therapist to her. She got better. I was nine. I think because when adults were younger, their mental health were overlooked and called dramatic, so they passed it onto us. My mum is a bit better, she lowered her hours at work to be able to stay more time with her when I was caught S/H at school, but I was sent to a mental hospital twice and was grounded for a year because “I needed to learn not to do that” and because “it’s the phones fault.” I was TEN, it was definitely not the internet’s fault. The most I did there was watch some YouTube, and it was kids stuff like drawing videos, or kids shows. It’s true I did get a bit depressed because there were literal adults (whom I saw as friends and cared deeply about) venting to me in discord, telling me they’re gonna kill themselves or S/H and not listening to me when I tried desperately to help, but in all honesty I think that was just part of it. The rest were irl traumas and just stuff going in my head and life in general

That turned into a vent — I apologize 😅... but either way, it’s proof that Hispanic mental health SHOULD be taken care of more. I think people from generation Milenial or Gen Z are more serious about it, but there are way more insensitive people towards it in Hispanic areas than in places like the US...unfortunately.
