The studio was silent except for the soft hum of the air conditioning and the occasional creak of the wooden floorboards. Xander stood in the center of the room, his muscles taut and his breath steady, as he held the final pose of their routine. Their faces were apart, Xander's head dipped toward her neck, his breath warm against her skin. Time seemed to stand still as they gazed into each other's eyes, searching for any imperfections in their lines.
