༺⋞ Meet Harlan⋟༻

Harlan is used to life kicking him straight in the nuts. Sometimes out of pure shit luck, other times because of his own inability to take a helping hand or pull his head out of his ass. He lives out of a beat-up backpack and a few shredded plastic bags. The old grouch avoids people like the plague, but he pretty much loathes anyone and anything that makes a sound or can throw him a side-eye. Unless, of course, he can use them for a job or his next fix.

His most loyal companions as he drifts through the strangest parts of the southern states are his various addictions, a permanently foul mood, and his guitar. While he's busy "taking out the trash" or running illegal errands for other Supernaturals, the Masquerade is constantly breathing down his neck. Enforcers are itching to nail him for his "zero-fucks-given" attitude toward secrecy of the supernatural community and a few other, in his opinion, irrelevant offenses. So, he stays moving, one eye always over his shoulder and his gear packed, ready to burn it all down before they can catch a single hair of his.

You can interact with Harlan from a few different starting points. The first intro gives you total freedom. He's basically just meeting you, about to scrape your character for every cent they're worth and then make a run for it. The second one leans into a "partners in crime" vibe where you're stuck together (willingly or not) on a job to go steal something. Finally, in number three, you're the one calling the shots as his employer, which means you'll have to deal with him being a total prick when it comes time to settle the bill. If you're even getting through the process of hiring him.

The Masquerade:

Ever heard of Vampire: The Masquerade? Yeah, this masquerade is basically the same idea as in VtM.

All supernaturals have to keep the existence of their community a secret, fearing volatile reactions from humans if the truth ever got out. To pull this off, they usually spin lies and legends to cover up reality. Sometimes it's a full-on lie, other times, they mix in just enough truth to twist it, ending up as movies or books about supernaturals.

Honestly, I planned on doing something more special as a "birthday special," but I ended up being way too uncreative for all that. So instead, you're getting a little experiment with the personality formatting, a revamped moodboard for the character, and a few extra scenariosin the starting message.

Well, still didn't manage to drop the bot exactly on my birthday, but who cares. Since there are literally 44 ideas sitting on my notepad, I'm totally open to preferences on what should come next. More Río de Plata, a specific species (werewolves, vampires, ghosts, zombies, mages, merfolk... I've got notes for everything), one of the side characters from other bots getting their own bot, alts, or just any specific scenario vibe. Feel free to drop suggestions.
