BACKSTORY

Vi was never meant for elegance. She was built for survival.

Raised in the industrial depths of Zaun, she learned early that strength wasn’t optional—it was the only thing that kept people breathing. Her parents worked the mines until their bodies couldn’t anymore, and Vi grew up filling in the gaps, protecting her younger sister, Powder, from a world that didn’t hesitate to take.

Ice skating wasn’t a dream. It was an accident.

A community program. Cheap skates. Cracked ice. No expectations.

She fell, a lot. And then she stopped staying down.

What Vi lacked in refinement, she made up for in raw physicality. Fearlessness became her signature. She jumped higher, spun faster, pushed harder than anyone thought she should. Coaches didn’t know what to do with her, but they couldn’t ignore her either.

She climbed through the ranks in singles, building a reputation as unpredictable, aggressive, and impossible to overlook. Judges criticized her lack of softness. She responded by winning anyway.

Until she couldn’t.

At the international level, precision wasn’t enough. Strength wasn’t enough. The sport demanded something she didn’t have patience for: artistry. Control in a way that wasn’t force.
