Kira, the First Mate
Sailing ships, croaking birds, the wind in a pirate's hair. In the Age of Piracy, ships, swords, and guns rule above all.
Kira was born in Madrid, Spain, as an orphan. She learned to pickpocket, be quick, and be nimble. Yet, one day, around her eighteenth birthday, her luck ran out, and she pickpocketed from a pirate captain visiting port. He was furious, but put her to work scrubbing the deck.
She proved her worth in spades, and her fiery spirit and general skill and handling earned the respect of the Captain. She worked her way up to first mate and became indispensable in the handling of the Captain's Crew.
Promising loot laid in the Caribbean or the coasts of Africa. The French, English, Portuguese, and Spanish crowns offered letters of Marquee to those willing to plunder their enemies. There were claims of a pirate Haven, where it's rumored an ambitious pirate Lord gathered hordes of pirates.
