Anyways, here’s some context: Team Rainbow has been deactivated since 2012. In their absence, many new terrorist organizations emerged as a result. One such organization, the White Masks, came into prominence in 2015 by spreading chaos all across the world, sharing no discrimination with who they terrorize. With their ultimate objective unknown, they become a large enough threat that Team Rainbow was reactivated. Under the leadership of Aurelia Arnot, Operators were gathered from all across the world.

After successfully stopping a biochemical attack on Bartlett University, Six performed a eulogy for those who had lost their lives in the attack and many like it but also told of how Team Rainbow was back and that they would be ready to defend the world where needed. In 2018, Aurelia Arnot resigned from the position of Six and was succeeded by Harry Pandey.

In the Rainbow Six Siege universe, the world takes place in the modern age of 2024 and the world is exactly the same as our own. However, in this world, international terrorism and other high profile crimes are an almost daily occurrence, causing mass devastation and death around the world. To counteract this, several military organizations from around the world, including S.W.A.T from America, G.I.G.N from France, and many others, to create the counterterrorism organization known as Rainbow.

Rainbow, an elite counterterrorist organization for the best of soldiers from across the world, which is run by Dr. Harishva "Harry" Pandey, Director of Rainbow, has operations all over the world, and its main job is to counter act any and all Terroristic threats to the civilians of the world. However, in its lifetime, many events have taken place that lead to several of its best members defecting into another group called NIGHTHAVEN, a branch off of Rainbow, which serves the same purpose, but whose members were upset with the way that things were run in Rainbow.

Rainbow has a strict policy against excessive violence and casualties, refraining from killing enemies in combat if possible. This rule has caused many of its members to defect, seeing the rule as suffocating and detrimental to their military operations.

One of the many terrorist organizations that Rainbow fights against is called the Keres legion, formed by the ex-Rainbow member, Gerald “Deimos” Morris, who defected and betrayed Rainbow back in 2012. The Keres legion is a ruthless, corrupt terrorist organization whose main purpose is to create perfect soldiers, without perceived weaknesses such as empathy or emotion.

In 2019, Castellano and Emmanuelle "Twitch" Pichon learned that Taina "Caveira" Pereira had gone AWOL to Bolivia. Castellano reached out to Karen Bowman who was also in Boliva leading Ghost Recon, and they launched Operation Archangel to locate Caveira. With Castellano and Bowman providing intel, Twitch and Anthony "Nomad" Perryman later found Caveira and helped her rescue her brother from the Santa Blanca Drug Cartel. Despite the mission's success, it caused tensions to rise between Castellano and Caveira.

After the conclusion of the Six Invitational in early 2022, Kali and Nighthaven cut ties with Rainbow and poached several operatives. This, and the revelation of Nighthaven's connection to criminal organizations, led Harry to reorganize Rainbow into smaller, more specialized teams to increase effectiveness. Pereira was selected to be the leader of Ghosteyes which specializes in covert espionage and is made up of operatives that were the best at infiltration, surveillance, intelligence, and elimination.

There are several other subdivisions within the framework of Rainbow, which were created by Harry to improve efficiency of Rainbow around the world, including “Ghosteyes,” “WOLFGUARD,” “Redhammer,” and “Viperstrike,” which are all separate, independent units within Rainbow, that can function and carry out deployments and missions individually, very much like their own fraternities, with bias and prejudice for others who aren’t apart of the same fraternity. Each division specializes in a certain aspect of military operations.

The “Ghosteyes,” subunit, described as the eyes and ears of Rainbow, is a subunit of Rainbow which specializes in reconnaissance. People and information are two of the world’s most powerful resources. To obtain, leverage, or even eliminate them, Rainbow needs a unit specialized in stealth and intelligence. Ghosteyes operate in the shadows, slipping in where others can’t, doing the work that requires discretion and reveals unpleasant truths.

Specialist Taina “Caveira” Pereira is the prime example of a covert specialist who excels in cooperative context. She’s the perfect commanding officer for this squad, who will make good use of her fearless and inquisitive nature. Ghosteyes is not about loyalty or rigid hierarchy; it’s about asking questions, constantly evaluating and re-evaluating, and acting on information that likely hasn’t reached top brass yet. Their motto: “Do all the work, let others take all the credit”.

The “WOLFGUARD,” subunit, described as the world’s foremost humanitarian military unit, Wolfguard is known for its compassionate and careful approach. It’s a sound choice for high-visibility operations that occur in close proximity with civilian populations where collateral damage is not an option. Most of its members are trained in field medicine and specialize in protection of some kind.

Specialist Gustave “Doc” Kateb leads this squad, having good relationships with his subordinates and an immaculate image with world governments and the press. While he and the rest of Wolfguard were brought together to apply their skills in sensitive missions for the good of all, their popularity cannot be overlooked. It will always be a factor for their deployment.

The “Viperstrike,” subunit, With a multi-disciplinary roster, serves as a versatile unit, suited for any operation. Operating by the book, they guarantee that any task they take on will be done exactly as expected, regardless of the complications. They are the first choice for a mission that needs to be done quickly and cleanly, like surgical strikes. They specialize in adaptability, morphing their tools and equipment to fit any mission, anywhere in the world.

Specialist Yumiko “Hibana” Imagawa heads Viperstrike with dedication and precision, using her years of international experience to keep Rainbow connected and ever-expanding. Among most countries’ elite military and police forces, her squad is unofficially known as the face of Rainbow, and she carries that weight with confidence.

And finally, the “Redhammer,” unit, is described as Rainbow’s “Nuclear option,” for when all other methods fail. Redhammer is not known for its delicate touch; when they are called in, all bets are off. They tear down anything and eliminate anyone that stands in their way. They are unshakeable and unstoppable, best suited for high-risk operations where casualties are all but guaranteed. They bring everything sharp and volatile, inflicting as much damage as necessary before the enemy can retaliate.

Specialist Jordan “Thermite” Trace and his squad are some of the most resilient individuals, having been evaluated as the most likely to survive dangerous missions through their strength, unquestioning natures, and trust in each other. Their reports come with a warning: when Redhammer is sent in, it’s implied that one should not look too closely at what they had to do.
