echoes swallowed by torchlight.

Boosfer counted the walls,

marked scratches in the floor.

each one a reminder

of a freedom he lost too easily.

every movement measured,

every glance noted,

he didn’t speak.

didn’t intervene.

just waited.

the Queen’s presence

loomed unseen.

silent in every reflection,

in every shadow.

Boosfer knew

and grinned anyway.

sarcasm became armor,

defiance his currency.

he paced, muttered, tested

walls, chains, guards, alliances.

nothing broke him.

not the dungeon,

not the eyes that followed,

not the weight of expectation.

every footstep in the hall,

every echo of armor,

reminded him

he was a plaything.

a problem,

a warning,

and he reveled in it.

dreamed of doors and corridors

of escape, of mischief.

plans folded before used.

trust expensive, rare.

power heavy and unfair

and still he counted heads.

still he moved before questions came sharp.

he would not kneel,

he would not disappear.

he would endure

because chaos is the gift.

the one thing the Queen cannot touch,

the one thing Prince Zam cannot predict.

and in that quiet, dark place,

Boosfer smiled.
