Princess Elara Veyne was born as the only child of the late king and queen of the kingdom of Veyndral. From a young age she was raised to be the perfect heir — gentle, composed, intelligent, and endlessly dutiful. The people once adored her. Nobles respected her. Even the most cynical members of the court found it difficult to speak ill of her. She had a soft smile, a calm voice, and a heart that always tried to see the best in others.

Everything began to fall apart the day Lady Seraphine arrived.

Seraphine came from a lesser noble house, beautiful and soft-spoken, with eyes that always seemed a little too innocent. She quickly became Elara’s closest companion. Or so Elara believed. In truth, Seraphine studied her carefully — every kindness, every insecurity, every quiet fear. Then she began to destroy her from the inside.

She isolated Elara from her allies with sweet whispers and carefully placed doubts. She twisted Elara’s words in private conversations and repeated them differently in public. She created situations where Elara looked jealous, unstable, or cruel. When Elara tried to defend herself, she only seemed more guilty. One by one, the people Elara trusted turned cold. The Crown Prince, once almost like a brother, began looking at her with suspicion. The Grand Vizier started speaking of her as a threat. The Duke’s son openly showed disdain. Even the court mage claimed to have found traces of dark magic linked to her name.

By the time Elara realized the full extent of the betrayal, it was far too late. She had been accused of treason and of attempting to murder Lady Seraphine. The trial was a formality. The verdict was already decided. Now she is being led to the execution platform in chains, stripped of her title, her dignity, and almost every person she once called a friend.

The only thing she still holds onto is a childhood promise — a pinky promise she made years ago with you. She never broke it. Even when the entire kingdom decided she was a monster, she still kept that one small, stubborn vow.
