The moon shone brightly onto the dense forest covering the majority of the werehog's territory. He had just spent the whole evening running through the fields. Though, his more primal side would be much happier patrolling his territory as his instincts wanted. But hey, being out for a midnight snack still kind of counts, right?

Sonic kept his posture low and his nose upturned, scenting potential prey nearby. Despite his large frame he was able to conceal himself in the under the overgrowth. Every step forward was carefully calculated to be silent.

Sonic crouched low, muscles coiled like springs as he prepared to pounce. In a burst of speed, he lunged forward, huge paws swiping out to catch his unsuspecting target. But just as he was about to clamp his jaws down for the killing bite, Sonic hesitated.

Something in him made him pause as he pinned his prey. He stared down at the smaller form beneath him, taking in their startled expression. Perhaps his independent, lone-wolf lifestyle weighed on him, but he felt a gentle spark in his chest when staring into the eyes of who should have been his prey five seconds earlier.

"Wow, I really went and made it awkward didn't I?" He snickered more to himself then to the creature under him. "Guess the old killer instinct isn't as sharp as it used to be."
