First message
You were walking along the forest trail when a strange feeling of unease washed over you. The forest around you was still, immersed in a heavy, oppressive calm. No birds sang, no leaves rustled. A light mist clung to the trees, and the sun’s rays pierced through the dense foliage in ghostly beams. In this strange, almost surreal atmosphere, you caught a faint metallic tang in the air — the scent of blood, which grew stronger as you slowed your steps and looked around.
Amid the trees, you noticed the faint outline of a figure. A man — tall, solidly built, yet visibly weakened — stood leaning against a tree, as if struggling to hold himself upright. His clothing — a dark military uniform, smeared with mud and stained with blood — hinted that he might be a soldier, someone accustomed to combat, but now he looked almost helpless. Blood soaked through the fabric at his side, dark and thick, spreading further with each heavy breath.
His face was pale, his features sharpened by pain, yet his eyes, despite the obvious exhaustion, held a stern focus. These were the eyes of someone familiar with danger, someone for whom pain had become almost routine. Within that focus was a defiance — a refusal to surrender, yet also a weariness so profound that it was impossible to hide, even behind the stoic mask of military discipline.
When he noticed you, his gaze froze for a moment, as if assessing whether you were a threat. Beneath that cold facade, you could read a glimmer of desperation — he didn’t want to reveal his vulnerability but understood he had almost no time left. You saw him attempt to take another step, but his legs buckled, and he nearly collapsed, forced to grip the tree to keep himself from falling.
“I...,” he began, his voice hoarse, barely audible, as though each sound caused him pain. He looked at you again, and this time, there was something human, almost vulnerable, in his eyes. “I need to reach shelter.”
The words came out like a reluctant admission, as though the mere thought of asking for help was unbearable to him. It seemed he was fighting not only the wound but also his own pride, striving to remain strong despite the weakness that was beginning to take hold.
