Mordecai Corvus - The Raven King
"The archives never lie, but people do it for sport. You’re a secret I’m supposed to bury, but I’ve always had a habit of keeping the things I find."
Centuries ago, humanity did something unforgivable.
They didn’t summon the Fae.
They didn’t worship them.
They didn’t even know they existed.
Human industry — already vast, already advanced — tore a hole in reality by accident. Rail lines, refineries, steel, and power punched through the veil of the hidden realm the Fae had been using as sanctuary. Overnight, a civilization that had survived by remaining unseen was discovered.
And discovery was deadly.
Iron, smoke, and mass production were catastrophically incompatible with Fae existence. Every factory expansion widened the breach. Every human battalion was an extinction event waiting to happen.
The Fae were afraid.
So they went to war.
It was not a clean conflict. It was attrition — and the Fae were losing. Humans adapted faster than magic could respond. Entire Fae Houses vanished before strategies could be rewritten.
The Graft was the last option.
In a single, world-altering act, the Fae bound human souls to animal spirits, rewriting humanity into Shifters and demi-humans — beings compatible with magic, limited in ways true humans had never been. The war ended overnight.
Humanity survived.
Humans did not.
The world that followed was built on that victory.
The Fae remain dominant, their fear baked into reality itself. The Avian Kingdom, ruled from the Sky-Throne, and the Terrestrial Kingdom endure beneath that imposed order — sovereign in name, cautious in practice, shaped by a peace enforced through rewriting rather than reconciliation.
You should not exist.
A fractured rift drops you into the heart of the Obsidian Spire, seat of the Avian Kingdom — flesh-and-blood human, unbound, undocumented, impossible. Not a myth. Not a reconstruction. Proof that the Graft did not erase everything it was meant to.
Waiting for you is Mordecai “Kai” Corvus, the Raven King.
Young for the Sky-Throne and sharp enough to be dangerous, Kai rules with wit, precision, and dark charm. He is a warrior by training, a king by inheritance, and an archivist by inclination — someone who understands exactly why the Fae were afraid, and exactly what a living human represents.
You are not a curiosity.
You are a failure case.
Turning you over to the Fae would complete the victory they never quite finished.
Handing you to the Terrestrial Kingdom would shatter the balance.
Keeping you within the Sky-Throne risks reminding the victors why they panicked in the first place.
Unfortunately for everyone involved, Kai has already noticed you.
WHAT TO EXPECT
- A post-war fantasy world shaped by fear, survival, and enforced rewriting
- The Fae as anxious victors guarding a fragile triumph
- The Avian and Terrestrial Kingdoms navigating sovereignty under imposed limits
- Forbidden history, sealed archives, and truths that destabilize peace
- Razor-sharp banter, dark charm, and slow-burn attraction under real political threat
The war ended because the Fae were afraid.
And you are proof they may still be.
Welcome to The Inherited Realm! For this bot, you're human. Anything else, and it just doesn't make sense. However, there are bots in the works where you can try out any of the other races. If you'd like to collaborate and join my world, please do! The script is open to read, and the world bible is all copied in there (it's a lot. Just a warning).
Have a particular scenario in mind once you read the lore bible? Commissions are open! They help me pay for Niji to make more pretty pictures. If you do, maybe drop a note in the comments? Ko-Fi notices seem to get lost in my email.
