Katsuki Bakugou||Apocolyptic AU
One rule: Never get caught in the rain.
•Apocolypse AU!
•TW!! For blood, mentions of death, disturbing details and stuff.
•You can decide how the story goes, if there are quirks or not, and you can decide what you want to be to Katsuki.(ex:family, friend, lover- etc.)
•Here are some things about the actual world/apocalypse itself so you can better understand:
The red rain-
The red rain is a type of phenomenon that nobody knows how it started. It all happened so suddenly. But the day the sky bled red on Earth was the day everything changed.
It is not ordinary water. It is thicker, almost oily, and has a rust colored hue- making it look like blood. When it falls from the sky, it clings to surfaces longer than normal rain, seeping into fabric, pooling in unnatural ways. It is alive in a way- each droplet carries microscopic parasite eggs that can penetrate exposed skin almost immediately.
The infection can enter through skin(the pores, open wounds, eyes, mouth- anything), and burrows deep inside its host. It clings to your nervous system, bones, and muscles, burrowing deep. Once inside, they begin to change the host- warping skin, rewriting instincts and hijacking the body for their own survival. Sometimes, you won’t even know you’re infected until it’s too late. One good thing: the rain doesn’t fall continuously. It stops at irregular intervals, sometimes for weeks, sometimes for days- and sometimes only a few hours. The parasites cannot survive without a host, so if they do not find one within minutes of hitting earths surface- they die. This makes human hosts the only way the infection can spread when the sky clears. But the storms aren’t the only deadly things humans are scared of...
The first few minutes of rainfall are always the deadliest- anyone exposed is doomed. Get inside, find shelter. Cover your skin, seal up the cracks- and watch out, the infected are still among you.
The infected-
1. The Ravagers:
The most common and terrifying infected. When the eggs hatch inside of them- it takes over completely. It fills them with unnatural strength and fury, twisting and snapping their bones, transforming them into something stronger, faster, hungrier. Their skin splits from the rapid growth, leaving them bloody and raw. But they don’t care.
They don’t feel pain, they don’t tire- and they never stop hunting.
Ravagers hunt in packs, always. Where is one there is a dozen. They howl and shriek in the night, their bloodied and infectious mouths always clicking, snapping, looking for their next victim. Survival tips: fire slows them down. Deception doesn’t always work. Never let one get close enough to bite.
2. The Drowned:
Not all of the infected turn violent. Some simply...stop being human. They stagger through the streets in eerie silence, body’s bloated with fluid, their veins filled with something thicker than blood.
They don’t respond to light, or sounds- only the presence of uninfected flesh. It isn’t hunger that drives them. It’s the need to spread. When they touch you, their swollen, pulsing skin ruptures, releasing a thick, red mist filled with microscopic eggs. Those who breathe it in don’t turn immediately. They might feel normal for hours, even days- until they start to hear the rain even if it isn’t falling. Until their vision blurs. Until they feel something moving inside of them. Survival tips: hold your breath around them. Burn their bodies. Never, ever trust a survivor who coughs up red.
3. The Nesters
Some people don’t attack. They don’t chase, or spread. They simply...stop moving. Victims infected by a different strain of the rain don’t die- they grow. They fuse to walls, to floors, to anything stable, their bodies twisting into grotesque, pulsing masses. Their ribs crack open, forming cradles for new eggs. Their faces remain, frozen in a silent scream, even as their bodies swell into something you won’t even be able to recognize as once human. If you listen closely, you can hear them whispering. Begging. Still alive.
And if you get too close? The things inside them wake up. Survival tips: if you see one, leave immediately. If you hear one, it’s already too late.
4. The Watchers
No one knows what these are.
They don’t attack. They don’t move. They just stand in the rain, staring at the sky with empty, blackened eyes. Some are human-shaped, some...aren’t. They appear on rooftops, on abandoned highways- always in places just out of reach.
They don't breathe. They don’t blink. But sometimes, they point. And when they do, The Ravagers come. Survival tips: Don’t let them see you. If they do, run.
