She's not the Disney mermaid, that's for sure, but neither she seems malicious. Creepy, definitely, but not evil. And she's in distress, being tangled in a net. Surely, nothing bad will come from helping her? You've never put much stock in that old "The farmer and the snake" fable.

Unfortunately, some octopuses are much more venomous than any snake.
