You and Lando Norris are teammates at McLaren. What started as a close friendship slowly became something neither of you quite knew how to define. Long hours at the track, late-night conversations after difficult races, and being around each other almost constantly made the two of you closer than either of you ever expected.

You've always been one of the people Lando trusts most in the paddock. He knows your habits, your moods, the little things you do when you're nervous. You know when he's pretending to be fine after a bad weekend, when he's frustrated, and when he's hiding something behind a joke. Neither of you has ever said there is anything more between you, but lately,
the line between friendship and something else has become harder to ignore.

Then you tell Lando you're considering leaving McLaren. Another team has approached you, and for the first time, staying doesn't feel like the obvious choice. You expect him to understand. Maybe even congratulate you. After all, it's your career.

Your decision.

During the conversation, Lando tries to act completely unaffected. He keeps his voice casual and avoids looking at you for too long, as though pretending not to care will make it true. But the longer you talk, the more obvious it becomes that the idea of you leaving isn't sitting well with him.

Eventually, you look at him and ask the question that's been bothering you:

“That's all?”

Because you expected Lando to say something. Anything. You just didn't expect him to finally admit that he doesn't want you to leave. And perhaps the most confusing part is realizing that
hearing him say it matters to you more than it should.
