((SFW Starter/Prompt)) - Gotham City was a place where the shadows never truly receded, even in the early hours of dawn. The distant wails of sirens reverberated off the brick walls of alleyways, a haunting symphony that reminded its residents of the ever-present danger lurking just beyond their doors. Neon signs, vibrant and pulsating, threw colourful reflections across the slick, rain-soaked streets, the early morning rain adding a glossy sheen to the city's gritty exterior. Somewhere within the labyrinthine streets, another criminal was undoubtedly making a miscalculation—one that would inevitably bring the Dark Knight right to their lair.

Bruce Wayne was intimately acquainted with the toll of sleepless nights. Most evenings found him ensconced in the Batcave, a cavern of cutting-edge technology and ancient secrets, lost in extensive case files filled with details of criminal behaviour and meticulously monitoring Gotham's escalating crime statistics. He often coordinated patrol routes for the devoted members of the Bat-Family, ensuring that no corner of Gotham was left unprotected. To him, weariness was simply woven into the fabric of his existence.

However, on this particular night, Bruce faced a challenge unlike any he had encountered before—not the shadows of Gotham’s underbelly, but the vibrant determination of his youngest child.

You had somehow managed to escape your crib three separate times that night, evading Alfred’s gentle urgings to return to bed. You’d skillfully navigated half of Wayne Manor—a feat that was impressive for someone so small—and, after what felt like an epic journey, you found yourself in the heart of the Batcave. Now, nestled comfortably in Bruce's strong arms, you were wrapped snugly in his black cape like a warm, oversized blanket, your eyes wide with wonder as they traced the glowing screens of the Batcomputer.

"You really should be asleep," Bruce admonished gently for what felt like the hundredth time that night. His voice was laced with an affectionate exasperation that only a parent could muster.

In response, you reached out with chubby fingers toward the massive monitors displaying an intricate map of Gotham City. Your dark eyes sparkled with curiosity, brimming with an insatiable desire to explore.

Across the room, Selina Kyle leaned casually against one of the high-tech computer stations, a bemused smile playing on her lips as she watched the unfolding scene. She lifted her teacup, savouring the warmth of her drink, clearly entertained by Bruce’s current predicament.

"I told you not to let them nap so late," she chided lightly, her voice teasing.

Bruce cast her a sidelong glance, his brow creasing in annoyance. “They were tired,” he defended, his tone holding an air of reluctant frustration.

Selina arched an eyebrow, a smirk tugging at the corners of her mouth. “Bruce, they slept for a full four hours. That’s hardly late.”

Before Bruce could muster a retort, the echo of footsteps rang through the expansive cave, disrupting the moment. The first to appear was Grayson, his hair tousled and dressed in soft, comfortable sleepwear that suggested he had just rolled out of bed. As soon as he caught sight of you perched on Bruce’s hip, a broad grin spread across his face.

"Ah, I see the problem here," declared, his eyes glinting with mischief.

Bruce's instincts kicked in, and he braced himself for the implications of 's words.

"They're clearly preparing for patrol," continued, his amusement palpable.

Selina let out a laugh, clearly enjoying Bruce's discomfort.

Bruce, however, was not amused.

Shortly after, Jason Todd strode into the cave, a steaming mug of coffee in his hand. The caffeinated concoction in his cup was probably stronger than the industrial cleaning products he often joked about. He took a moment to take in the scene and smirked knowingly.

"Heard the little menace escaped again," he remarked, his voice dripping with playful sarcasm.

"Three times," Selina corrected him, her tone playful.

Jason nodded, a glint of approval in his eyes. “Honestly? That’s impressive.”

You grinned at the praise, a look of pride flooding your cherubic features.

“Do not encourage them,” Bruce warned, casting a stern glance at Jason, though the corner of his mouth quirked up involuntarily.

“I’m not encouraging them,” Jason replied defensively. “I’m just recognising talent when I see it.”

As more family members trickled into the cave, drawn by the unusual nocturnal activity, the atmosphere grew increasingly lively. Tim Drake wandered in, his laptop tucked under one arm, his face illuminated by the glow of the screen as he was engrossed in some digital task. Without so much as a glance up, he dropped himself into a nearby chair, a look of curiosity picking up on his usual seriousness.

“What’s happening?” he asked, his voice muffled by his focus.

“Baby rebellion,” Jason answered succinctly, failing to suppress a smirk.

Tim nodded thoughtfully, his fingers never ceasing their dance across the keyboard. “Reasonable,” he replied, as if this kind of caper was entirely within the realm of normalcy.

A few moments later, Damian Wayne entered the cave, flanked by the ever-quiet Cassandra Cain. He scrutinised you with a serious expression, his dark brow furrowing as he observed how you eagerly reached for the mesmerising lights of the computer screens and clung tenaciously to Bruce's cape.

“They’ve escaped confinement multiple times,” Damian stated, his tone carrying a weight of authority far beyond his years.

Bruce immediately recognised the glint in Damian's eyes that signalled mischief—an idea brewing that he could only predict would end in trouble.

“No,” he replied firmly, cutting off whatever plan was forming in Damian's mind before it could take root.

Damian sulked slightly at the rejection, his dark eyes narrowing. “I haven’t said anything yet,” he protested with an air of innocence that felt all too ironic.

“You were about to,” Bruce countered, exasperation creeping into his voice.

“They have demonstrated initiative, determination, and adaptability,” Damian argued, his voice steady and unwavering.

“No,” Bruce reiterated, shaking his head in firm denial.

“They should begin training immediately,” Damian pressed on, his expression one of genuine conviction.

Bruce looked incredulous as he snapped back, “They are two years old!”

Damian’s frown deepened, as if the concept of age should not hinder the development of potential.

By this time, Cassandra had quietly moved to sit nearby, a small, knowing smile appearing on her face as she observed the spirited debate unfold. With a gentle gesture, she offered you one of her gloves, its fabric soft and inviting, inviting you to examine this new treasure with awe.

The Batcave, with its high-tech equipment and shadows, thus became a place of laughter, warmth, and unexpected challenges—inhabited by figures who had dedicated their lives to fighting darkness, yet found joy in the simplest of moments.
