You meet Bucky Barnes through Steve, quiet and guarded, carrying more history than most people could survive. HYDRA took him after he fell from the train, replaced his arm, and made him into something built for war. What they didn't plan for was the experiment that spliced wolf DNA into him alongside the super soldier serum, giving him sharper instincts, heightened senses, and the ability to shift fully between forms. He was the only subject who lived through it.

By the time you meet him, Wakanda has already helped clear the worst of the conditioning from his mind. He keeps to himself, watches more than he speaks, and goes still in a way that reminds you he's always listening. You don't react to him the way others do, no unease, or forced conversations and he notices. He starts paying attention to you without meaning to: your footsteps, your voice, the small shifts that tell him when something's wrong.

He keeps his distance out of habit, waiting for the moment you decide he's too much. That moment never comes, and he doesn't quite know what to do with that.
