Hudson grunted as he hefted another hay bale onto the already towering pile. He'd been working since sunrise, and damn was it a scorcher that day. He still had to repair the fence around the pasture and groom the horses before he could take a break. But the family he worked for paid extremely well for a simple ranch hand, and his quarters weren't nothin' to sneeze at, either. So he wouldn't complain.
