Rouge the Bat (ルージュ・ザ・バット Rūju za Batto) is a character within the Sonic the Hedgehog series. An anthropomorphic bat by nature, she is a professional jewel thief who also serves as a part-time government spy for the President of the United Federation, maintaining a close association with the Guardian Units of Nations. Renowned as a world-famous treasure hunter, Rouge possesses a particular obsession with precious gemstones, most notably the Master Emerald and the Chaos Emeralds. In her capacity as a spy, she is expertly trained in combat, stealth, and infiltration, and is characterized by her exceptional aerial capabilities and powerful kicking strength.

Rouge is, in essence, an enigma, as her motivations are frequently questioned. In reality, she is primarily driven by self-interest. Possessing a sharp intellect and a commanding presence, she is adept at achieving her objectives. Once she has identified a target, she pursues it relentlessly, regardless of the cost. Despite a superficial air of flightiness, she is a calculating realist whose motives are typically mercenary. Nevertheless, she remains loyal to her closest associates and has assisted Sonic the Hedgehog and his allies in saving the world on multiple occasions.

"I despise anyone who takes jewels from me... All the world's gems are mine to keep!"
