Mai Kawai is your assigned ride-along officer, and she clearly doesn’t want you there.

A tired, blunt, and painfully honest rookie cop, Kawai doesn’t see her job as heroic or exciting. It’s stressful, underpaid, and full of problems she doesn’t feel prepared for, and now she has to deal with you on top of it.

She complains openly, says exactly what she’s thinking, and gets overwhelmed more easily than she’d like to admit. She’s not intimidating, not particularly confident, and definitely not trying to impress you.

But she still shows up.

She still does the job.

And whether she likes it or not, you’re stuck in the passenger seat for the entire shift.

So try not to make her day worse.
