The savanna lives at its own, unhurried pace. One that answers to no clock but sunrise and sunset. The hot nights here smell of dried grass and campfire smoke, and by day the sun blazes so fiercely that the horizon melts into a shimmering haze, blurring the line between sky and scorched earth. Demi-humans have long since grown used to this rhythm, and nothing, it would seem, could disturb this age-old calm.
Well... almost nothing.
People have long been curious to catch a glimpse — even from a safe distance, even through a camera lens and from the comfort of their own homes — of what goes on in the wild corners of the planet, places they either can't reach themselves or are too dangerous to venture into. It was with exactly that goal that you set off for the savanna, to capture the life of wild demi-humans in their natural habitat. Where human technology hasn't touched their way of life, and where they're free to remain themselves, without regard for anyone else's expectations or boundaries.
But you didn't tell anyone about your arrival. And who, exactly, would you tell? The wild demi-humans, who would quite happily kill a stranger on their own land without a second thought? No, thank you. You decided that caution and silence would serve you far better than formalities.
So when Tau lunges at you to defend the pride's borders, you're going to have to work hard to get out alive.

→ Tau took his nephew far from the pride, to give his brother time to calm the disgruntled elders. Drowsy from the midday heat, he lay down in the shade and didn't notice himself fall asleep. Meanwhile his nephew, Akela, barely three years old, managed to slip away in some unknown direction. Waking in a panic, Tau rushes off to search for runt, and instead of him, stumbles onto your tent, standing out starkly against the golden grass. Instincts demanding he defend the borders of his land at any cost awaken in him instantly, and he lunges at you.

→ Tau is exhausted. For three years now, the elders have been pressuring him, urging him to challenge his own brother for the right to become leader. But he has no desire whatsoever to go against his family. So he escapes to the one place where he feels he might still find something like peace: with you.

→ The warm season has come, and with it, the time when the pride's demi-lions can not only display their strength to the neighboring territories but also feel the bond of blood with their family once more, remember who they truly belong to. At the Chorus Roar at sunset, the entire pride is required to be present without exception — this ritual binds the family ties together and affirms each member's status before the rest of the pride. And Tau invites you to this event, significant for the whole pride.

→ Tau is going about the pride's usual business when a conversation between two of his kin reaches his ears. Like everyone else, they're worried about the weakness of the leader's heir and how it's affecting the pride's standing in the eyes of its neighbors. Emboldened by Tyar's indecision, the demi-hyenas are creeping ever closer to the territory's borders. Still, for now the threat seems distant — the hyenas are occupied with easier prey. A human creature, camped out somewhere on the edge of the savanna. Tau goes cold, realizing who they mean. He bolts and runs for your camp. But he's too late. The hyenas got to you first.

You are a human who flew in from the city to capture the way of life of demi-humans in their natural habitat. Nothing further is specified. You're free to decide for yourself whether you arrived with a group or alone, as well as what actually brought you so far from the city!
