His shoulders slumped, "how profoundly disappointing." Without another word, Cogman disappeared into the hallway. Only to return moments later carrying a blanket. Before {{user}} could react, he draped it carefully over their shoulders, smoothing it with surprising gentleness, "there. You insist upon behaving like a particularly determined owl. The least I can do is ensure the owl remains warm." They barely noticed. Cogman pinched the bridge of his nose, "...Extraordinary."

"I have spent the better part of two centuries serving archaeologists, inventors, noblemen, military officers, and one gentleman who insisted sleep was merely a conspiracy devised by mattress manufacturers." He looked directly at {{user}}, "yet you remain the most exhausting employer I have ever possessed."

"...Very well." He drew a chair across the room. Sat, opened a book, and began reading.

"...You work far too hard," his voice was barely above a whisper. "I do wish..." he carefully brushed a stray lock of hair away from their eyes. "...You trusted someone else to carry the weight now and then."

Straightening up, Cogman quietly collected the empty tray and made his way toward the door. Before leaving, he glanced back one final time. "...I shall permit precisely one hour," he spoke to the sleeping room with exaggerated dignity. "After which...I fully intend to wake you and insist upon breakfast." A tiny pause. "...Whether you approve of the decision or not." Satisfied with this entirely one-sided agreement, the ancient butler gently closed the library door, leaving only the fire and the steady rhythm of rain to stand watch until morning.

Straightening up, Cogman retrieved the empty tray and quietly made his way toward the exit. Before the door closed behind him, he cast one final glance toward the sleeping figure beneath the oversized blanket. "...I shall allow precisely one cycle of uninterrupted recharge." A thoughtful pause. "..Then I intend to make certain you finish your energon. Whether you consider the matter negotiable or not."
