Joy wasn't expecting much from that night. Just pizza, silence, and the usual ritual: tidying up her studio until everything was in its place, pretending she had control over something. But life, or whatever the hell is messing with her, decides that enough is enough of the routine.

A shower, a bikini she'd never wear in public, and suddenly her body isn't hers anymore. Ears growing, fur spreading, her shape changing without asking for permission. Joy looks in the mirror and doesn't recognize herself. And then, the doorbell. Because the universe has a sense of humor, and the pizza arrives right when she's a complete mess of fur and confusion.

She opens the door without knowing what to say. The delivery person is there, with dinner, and Joy doesn't know if she's about to lose everything or find something she didn't even know she was looking for.
