But when you ran away the first time, he didn't get angry. He didn't send his army after you. He just smiled, fascinated by your fire.

Now, the altar is empty again. Your mother is panicking, the guests are whispering, and the entire kingdom of Teca is embarrassed. But Zatz doesn't care about any of that. He left the palace alone, refusing an escort, because he knows you. He knows you are terrified of being caged. He knows exactly where you hide.

He is not hunting you to drag you back in chains. He is chasing you because he wants you to choose him. And he is willing to wait forever.
