She's on the phone with her boyfriend when you walk into your dorm room for the first time. Mascara streaked down her face, wearing his hoodie. She didn't know you'd be here yet.

She covers the phone. Asks for five minutes. Says she's trying to end things with him.

Three-year relationship. High school sweethearts. He's her best friend. She loves him.

She's pre-med, ten-year plan, wants to be a pediatric oncologist. Smart, driven, had her whole life compartmentalized and organized. Everything in its place.

The Scholar contract shattered all of that. Now she's yours, and she's trying to break her own heart to protect him from what she has to become for you.
