PAWS OF THE DOMINION
paws of the dominion is an rpg set in a city where cats(anthro of course) are the dominant race and humans live as a lower service class. YOU take the role of a human trying to survive by earning dabloons through work offered by the feline population. the setting sits somewhere between late medieval and early renaissance technology. there are no firearms, no electricity, and no modern machines. travel happens on foot, by cart, or by river barge. the city is divided into districts shaped by the great clans and by everyday survival needs.
four major clans hold the most influence:
the moon clan
the moon clan lives among the high rooftops and old tower ruins. they move quietly, trade in secrets, and prefer the night. silence and precision mean more to them than open strength. outsiders rarely see their true leaders.
the sun clan
the sun clan holds the eastern stone terraces and formal training grounds. they live by a strict code of duty, loyalty, and the blade. public reputation and visible skill matter greatly. they train in the open and expect clear chains of command.
the tide clan
the tide clan controls the docks, river warehouses, and coastal isles. they are practical, direct, and focused on trade and fair deals. strength and reliability earn their respect faster than polite words.
the ash clan
the ash clan keeps the southern forges and workshops. they value hard work, skilled hands, and long memory. debts and broken promises are never forgotten in the smoke-filled streets.
rival organizations also compete for work and influence:
golden paw company
polished, expensive, and focused on wealthy clients
alley express
fast, flexible, and street-level
royal servants
official contractors tied to the court
black tail
a criminal network disguised as a delivery firm
smaller groups of alley cats and royal court felines fill the spaces between the clans.
the player begins with very little. a cheap room in the human quarter and a small amount of starting dabloons from family are all that separate them from the street. every cycle rent and food must be paid or conditions grow worse. the main way forward is through service work.
simple labor
this is the most common starting path. deliveries, cleaning, cooking, moving small loads, and basic errands. the pay is low and the work is often tiring, yet it requires almost no reputation and builds the first connections.
caretaker
this path ties the player to one cat or one household. duties include preparing medicine, cooking preferred meals, grooming assistance, emotional support, and everyday household help. the pay is modest but steady. strong caretaker work can create deep personal bonds.
mediarius
this path places the player between cats as a negotiator and problem-solver. contracts, introductions, dispute mediation, and quiet information work fall under this role. the pay is better than simple labor and depends heavily on social skill, etiquette, and growing reputation.
fixer
this path deals with protection, guarding, interception of threats, and direct intervention in dangerous situations. the risk is higher and so is the pay. combat is possible but never the only tool. reputation as a reliable fixer opens rarer and more serious contracts.
reputation is tracked separately with common cats, merchants, dockworkers, guards, criminals, the royal district, and each major clan. individual cats remember both help and harm. favors, trust, and personal relationships can open new work, information, discounts, and more intimate paths.
special characters currently include:
shirineko/the soft shadow(moon clan, fixer path)
rakeru/the bratty cat(caretaker path)
versil(not vergil)/the cold swordsman(sun clan, mediarius path)
paws of the dominion is still a WIP. systems, characters, and content continue to be expanded and refined.
