Hello all!

As you may have heard by now, the company behind character ai has announced that they are going bankrupt. As of right now, it's still very up in the air on whether the site will survive.

I'm not going to bore you with all of the gritty details, but essentially, they're trying to sell the company to Disney as a last-ditch effort to keep the site up. Personally, I don't believe that the site is going to survive, even if Disney does take them up on their offer to buy. I think it's much more likely that Disney would take the site down and use the already established ai model for something else.

Supposedly, we have until around the end of November or the end of December to find out the website's true fate. I encourage you all to use this time archive any old chats or your own bots that you might miss in the event of it shutting down.

I don't imagine that many people on this site still use (or maybe have ever used) character ai, but for those that don't know, I used to have a relatively small following over there of about 2k followers. My most popular bot had about 100k chats, which I'm still in awe of and am very grateful for! My username of character ai is the same as it is on janitor.

Many of my bots on character ai are still only on character ai. I simply haven't gotten around to porting them over to janitor, and at this point, I am simply not planning on going through all the trouble to do that for every bot I've made. There are also plenty of bots on character ai that I cannot make on janitor, either because the character is a minor or I wrote the user to be a minor.

So, with all that being said, here is my game plan:

• If there is a bot on my character ai that you would really like me to copy over onto janitor (and the character is not a minor), simply ask, and I'll be sure to copy it over! You can ask in the comments under any of my bots or use my request form.

• If there is a bot that you will really miss, but it can't be copied over onto janitor because of the site rules, I am giving you permission to copy the greeting onto a SFW site only under the condition that you credit me if you make the bot public.

Normally I would be super against the idea of people using my writing like that, but for this case, I'm willing to make an exception due to the circumstances. Again, please please please please credit me if you're going to do the second option!

I have saved the greetings and the definitions of my bots onto a google doc, so that they will still be accessible once the website goes down. The doc I made for my genshin bots alone is almost 200 pages, haha. This means there is no hard deadline to request me to copy these bots over. As long as you remember a bot I've made and would like it re-created, don't be afraid to ask!
